Caucuses in the Undergraduate House of Representatives

Concept:

There is a new installation of Caucuses in the Undergraduate House of Representatives. Caucuses were created by the Internal Development Committee to help open up the lines of communication between representatives and constituents. Caucuses allow constituents to meet with their representative weekly and focus on their constituent’s issues. Caucuses also facilitate communication among representatives to better serve their constituencies. In addition to communicating with constituents, caucuses give a chance for representatives to review bills, invite special guests to speak, and to take on initiatives for their constituents.

There are 10 Caucuses that are broken down into two sections, Class and Academic Caucuses. With the addition of caucuses, constituents can be served in a more effective and productive way. If you have in question feel free to contact your representative or Kaitlyn Frazier. The breakdown of Caucuses is listed below:

Class Caucuses:

  • Freshman Caucus (3)
  • Sophomore Caucus (3)
  • Junior Caucus (3)
  • Senior Caucus (5)
  • Caucus will be chaired by each class president

Academic Caucuses:

  • College of Architecture Caucus (3)
  • College of Engineering Caucus (16)
  • College of Computing Caucus (4)
  • College of Sciences Caucus (6)
  • College of Management Caucus (3)
  • Ivan Allen College Caucus (5)
  • Caucuses each elect a chair

Caucuses will be held in room 117 in the Student Services (Flag) Building at 7 PM every Tuesday before each House meeting at 7:30 PM.
